Community Director, Alpha - $400,000/year USD
Families rarely discover Alpha through advertisements. They learn about it when another family shares over dinner: "This transformed my child." Your role is to own that word-of-mouth engine across an entire region—the gatherings, the parent ambassadors, the connections with mayors and CEOs who create pathways for a 14-year-old's first meaningful project.
About the role
A typical week places you in four different settings. You plan and execute the regional calendar of events: 150-person open houses, intimate eight-person dinners, multiple times each month. You identify current parents eager to speak with prospective families and facilitate those connections, one family at a time. You cultivate ties with municipal leaders and business executives, converting these relationships into event spaces, support for campus launches, and tangible opportunities for students. You deliver the Alpha Networks: introductions, expert-led sessions, internships, alumni integration—tracked family by family. No complete playbook exists. You create it as you execute, and the frameworks you develop are adopted by colleagues building similar systems in other markets.
As your region expands, the challenge intensifies rather than simplifies: the number of doors opened per family must increase even as total enrollment grows. Success is measured by the proportion of growth driven by authentic personal endorsements, evaluated across years rather than quarters.
This position is based on-site in one of these regions: San Francisco, Los Angeles, San Diego, Denver, Greenwich, Miami, Atlanta, Boston, Oklahoma City, Tulsa, Dorado, Nashville, or Park City. The role includes evening and weekend engagements with demanding parents, government officials, and business founders, plus frequent local travel. You will become the best-connected individual in your city, and you will deploy that network for the benefit of students.
Responsibilities
- Planning and executing the regional event calendar: public gatherings, curated dinners organized by city and grade level, family retreats—multiple events monthly, within budget
- Arranging venues, hosts, and vendors, then personally facilitating each event
- Identifying current parents to serve as ambassadors, training them with authentic narratives, and pairing them with prospective families and campus visits
- Establishing connections with government officials and corporate leaders, converting these into event venues, support for new campus launches, and opportunities for students
- Organizing enrolled families into parent networks and connecting students with mentorships, expert-led sessions, and professional internships; integrating graduating families into the alumni community within 30 days
- Recording every event, introduction, and initial contact attribution in the CRM platform to ensure "doors opened per family" reflects accurate data
- Establish relationship-driven referrals as the primary driver of enrollment growth in your region
What You Won’t Be Doing
- Purchasing growth through paid advertising, media spend, or impression and lead-generation metrics
- Controlling brand narrative or centralized campaigns; that responsibility belongs to Marketing
- Handling admissions logistics, conducting tours, or managing enrollment documentation; those functions belong to Admissions and Family Success
- Managing campus operations or overseeing facility access
- Treating raw attendance figures and headcount as measures of success
- Delaying action until a complete playbook, template, or support team is in place
Requirements
- 5+ years developing communities or relationship initiatives in K-12 education, membership organizations, or equivalent network-driven sectors, where growth resulted from personal connections: referrals, members, congregations, chapters, alumni, or client portfolios, with quantifiable outcomes
- Direct experience planning and executing 20+ events spanning the spectrum from intimate curated dinners to gatherings of 100+ attendees, with full budget accountability
- Established and sustained relationships with government officials or corporate executives that delivered specific, identifiable results
- Consistent CRM discipline; systematically documenting relationships, attributions, and activities is standard practice
- Current resident of, or willing to relocate to, one of these regions: San Francisco, Los Angeles, San Diego, Denver, Greenwich (CT), Miami, Atlanta, Boston, Oklahoma City, Tulsa, Dorado (PR), Nashville, or Park City (UT)
- Authorized for US employment without requiring visa sponsorship
Nice-to-have Requirements
- Led regional expansion, community development, or partnership functions for a network-structured organization: school systems, membership associations, franchise operations, or civic or faith-based institutions
- Developed and leveraged a high-value relationship portfolio as a client-facing leader in wealth management, consulting, or business development
- Advanced through roles in admissions, institutional advancement, community organizing, or hospitality, consistently selected to represent and host on behalf of the organization
- Pre-existing connections with local government or business leadership in your market
- Deep understanding of how families navigate critical education choices
