About the role

Performs specialized community support for the Orlando Police Department (OPD). Provides mobile crisis outreach to individuals with mental, behavioral, or substance use disorders. Primary duties include de-escalation and stabilization of those experiencing a mental health or substance crisis or unsheltered living. Work is performed under general supervision and reviewed daily.

Responsibilities

• De-escalates and stabilizes individuals experiencing a mental health or substance crisis or unsheltered living.
• Works under general supervision and reviews work daily.

Requirements

• Master’s Degree in Psychology, Sociology, Social Work, Nursing, Counseling, Education, or Criminal Justice and two (2) years of experience in crisis intervention.
• An equivalent combination of education, training, and experience may substitute for the degree requirement.
• Valid Florida Driver's License required.
• Basic First Aid and Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) certifications required within 1 year of hire.
• Licensed clinician preferred.
• Must pass police background check which includes polygraph.
• Must pass CJIS (Criminal Justice Information System) training within the first week of hire.
• Polygraph required with the exception of current OPD employees.

Qualifications

• Two (2) years of direct experience for an associate degree;
• Four (4) years of direct experience for a bachelor's degree;
• Six (6) years of direct experience for a master's degree;
• Nine (9) years of direct experience for a doctoral degree.
