Responsibilities

  • Performs substance abuse counseling and recovery skills training
  • Participates in inmate orientation, educational and individual and process counseling groups
  • Develops and implements a comprehensive treatment plan (CTP)
  • Maintains accurate and complete case reports, records, and statistics
  • Compiles data and submits reports and related documentation
  • Teaches and practices complex life skills such as assertiveness, anger management, goal setting, managing criminality, and changing thinking errors
  • Develops and implements follow-up and after-care plans for inmates
  • Provides support groups and disseminates information on community resources
  • Develops comprehensive assessment plans (CAP) for inmates
  • Promotes the development of positive social skills through modeling appropriate behaviors and intervening when inappropriate behaviors are observed
  • Maintains accountability of staff, inmates, and property; adheres to safety practices

Requirements

  • Graduation from an accredited senior high school or equivalent or GED
  • One of the following licenses/certifications: Letter of registration as a Counselor Intern (LCDC-I); Current certification as Certified Criminal Justice Professional (CCJP-A); Licensed Chemical Dependency Counselor (LCDC) license from the Texas Department of State Health Services, Certified Criminal Justice Professional (CCJP) as approved by the Texas Certification Board of Addiction Professionals, Certified Program Instructor or Licensed Psychological Associate (LPA)
  • 2,000 hours of supervised worked experience toward LCDC or CCJP (preferred for LCDC-I or LCDC)
  • A valid driver’s license with an acceptable driving record (unless waived by management)

$20 per hour

Schedule

Full time, Monday – Friday, day schedule
