About the role
The Community & Content Manager is responsible for managing the social media presence and influencer relationships for Kalkomey's portfolio of outdoor safety education websites, including Boat-ed.com, Hunter-ed.com, BoaterExam.com, and HuntWise.
Responsibilities
- Own day-to-day management of Kalkomey’s social media channels across the brand portfolio, including Instagram, Facebook, X/Twitter and YouTube.
- Develop and execute a social content calendar aligned with marketing campaign priorities and seasonal moments across all brands.
- Monitor engagement, respond to comments and messages, and actively grow follower bases across channels.
- Track performance metrics and regularly report on channel growth, engagement, and content effectiveness.
- Identify, vet, and onboard influencers and brand ambassadors whose audiences align with Kalkomey’s mission and portfolio of brands; spanning boating, hunting, fishing, snowmobiling, and outdoor recreation.
- Build and maintain long-term, authentic relationships with influencer and ambassador partners.
- Manage partnership agreements, content briefs, deliverables, and performance tracking.
- Cook up campaigns and activations that align influencer content with brand initiatives across the portfolio.
- Develop a sourcing strategy to pipeline UGC, influencer assets, and partner content to support all marketing channels across the brand portfolio.
- Collaborate with internal marketing teams to identify content gaps and match external sources to fill them.
- Manage content rights, usage permissions, and licensing for all externally sourced assets.
- Maintain an organized library of approved external content for cross-channel and cross-brand use.
- Represent Kalkomey’s brands authentically on relevant online forums and communities, including Reddit and niche hunting, fishing, and boating forums.
- Monitor brand mentions and community conversations across all portfolio brands, responding helpfully and in alignment with each brand’s voice.
- Identify community insights, trends, and audience feedback to share with internal marketing and product teams.
- Develop and execute strategies to grow brand awareness via social media, influencer programs, ambassador networks, forums, podcasts, and emerging channels.
- Support earned media and PR efforts by amplifying brand stories across owned and earned channels, pitching brand narratives to relevant media and content outlets and serving as a connector between community activity and press-worthy moments.
- Collaborate with the broader marketing team to ensure community and content efforts ladder up to business goals across all brands.
Requirements
- 3+ years of experience in social media management, community management, influencer marketing, or a related role.
- Proven track record of managing social channels and growing engaged audiences.
- Experience building and maintaining influencer or ambassador partnerships.
- Strong writing skills with the ability to adapt tone and voice across platforms, audiences, and brand identities.
- Highly organized with the ability to manage multiple projects, partners, and deadlines simultaneously across a multi-brand portfolio.
- Comfort engaging in niche online communities and forums.
- Experience sourcing and managing UGC and content rights.
- Genuine passion for the outdoors; hunting, fishing, boating, or other outdoor recreation experience is a strong plus.
Bonus points
- Familiarity with the outdoor recreation, safety education or licensing space.
- Experience with social media management tools such as Sprout Social, Hootsuite, or Later.
- Basic graphic design skills using Canva or Adobe Creative Suite.
- Experience in communications, public relations, or earned media, including media outreach, press pitching, or brand storytelling across owned and earned channels.
