Job Description
The primary purpose of this position is to implement and uphold the facility’s safety programs in accordance with federal, state, and facility standards, guidelines and regulations, and as may be directed by the Administrator, to assure that resident and employee safety can be maintained through appropriate safety measures.
Responsibilities
- Maintains sign in/ sign out log. Makes sure all visitors and residents sign in and out.
- Performs full and random house/ room searches proactively to identify predispositions and LOA’s
- Facilitates room change procedures/ checks
- Ensures safety status forms are utilized and status updates are appropriate
- Covers shifts from 4pm-12am and 12am-8am with weekend coverage
- Covers resident gatekeeper duties, ensuring residents without privileges do not leave the facility
- Performs wander guard and window checks
- Notifies appropriate department when special security instructions are received
- Reports known or suspected incidents of fraud or resident abuse to the Administrator
- Maintains high level of customer service, smiling greeting, and directing individuals to appropriate places
Qualifications
- A minimum of one year security experience, preferred.
- Familiarity with skilled nursing facilities, preferred.
- Must be able to relate to and work with ill, disabled, elderly, emotionally upset, and, at times, hostile people within the facility.
- Must be able to manage multiple tasks and work with all disciplines in a challenging and diverse multicultural environment.
- Must be able to speak and write the English language.
