Community-Based Behavioral Health Internship: Cleveland, OH

About the role

The National Youth Advocate Program is seeking interns for its Behavioral Health team in Cleveland, OH for the Spring and Summer 2027 terms. The position involves working directly with youth and families in both community settings and the office, gaining experience in various therapeutic areas, and collaborating with community partners.

Responsibilities

• Provide appropriate individual, group, and family mental health services, case management, transportation, and other professional services.
• Meet or exceed established outcomes thresholds on behalf of persons served.
• Travel as needed to provide community-based services to youth and families in compliance with organizational, contract, and regulatory requirements.
• Complete all required documentation in a timely manner.
• Complete all required training in a timely manner.
• Coordinate and monitor services for youth and families in mental health, medical, educational, psychological, vocational, and social services.
• Regularly review and modify youth-based plans to ensure consistent progress and success on written plan goals.
• Aid in family reunification and/or stabilization efforts with the youth's primary family or other permanent living arrangements consistent with the youth's case plan.
• Participate actively in the weekly supervision process.

Requirements

• Enrollment in a Master’s level Social Work or Master’s level Clinical Counseling program.
• Bachelor’s Degree in Social Work or a comparable Human Services field from an accredited institution.
• Enrolled in an accredited institution for a Master’s Degree in Social Work or Master’s in Clinical Counseling.
• An internship or field placement is a requirement by the institution.
• Licensed Social Worker (LSW), Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW), or Licensed Clinical Professional Counselor (LCPC) required upon completion of the internship.
• Capacity to remain objective and professional in all areas of job function.
• Proficient use of desktop and laptop computers, smart phones and tablets, printers, fax machines, and photocopiers as well as software including word processing, spreadsheet, and database programs.
• Valid driver’s license and reliable personal transportation.
• Good driving record.
• Minimum automobile insurance coverage of $100,000/$300,000 bodily injury liability.
