About the role

This position is located at our Sheridan, WY Downtown branch. The Community & Business Banker delivers personalized client service by holding financial conversations with clients and prospects to determine needs and provide appropriate solutions. This role maintains client relationships with an emphasis on First Interstate Bank's Service Commitments and in accordance with our vision and values.

Responsibilities

  • Delivers personalized client service in person and over the phone by answering client questions, assisting with issues, and offering solutions.
  • Opens and maintains a variety of products, including consumer and business checking and savings accounts, Individual Retirement Accounts, Certificates of Deposit, consumer and small business credit cards, and originates all types of personal loans.
  • Processes new consumer and new small business loan requests.
  • Holds financial conversations with clients and prospects to determine needs and provide appropriate solutions.
  • Identifies referral opportunities to other lines of business—including Home Loans, Treasury Solutions, Merchant Services, Business Banking, and Wealth Management—using 360 View to document referrals and client activity.
  • Builds client relationships through outbound engagement and proactive measures.
  • Performs Teller duties as needed, conducting financial transactions such as check cashing, deposits, withdrawals, processing loan payments, and counting currency and coin accurately.
  • Completes work accurately with minimal errors.
  • Participates in volunteer activities and financial education efforts.
  • Stays current on regulatory changes and demonstrates compliance with all bank regulations, policies, and procedures related to assigned job functions.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or General Education Degree (GED) required; Associate's Degree preferred.
  • 1-3 years of banking or related experience required.
  • Registered Mortgage Loan Originator per the SAFE Act within 30 days of hire.

  • Able to perform basic arithmetic operations and compute rates, percentages, and interpret bar graphs.
  • Able to apply common-sense understanding to carry out detailed but uncomplicated instructions.
  • Able to solve problems involving a few concrete variables in standardized situations.
  • Demonstrates timely completion of work and adjusts to workload demands to meet expected deadlines.
  • Produces complete and accurate work, displaying pride and professionalism in all tasks.
