Communications Technician

Responsibilities

• Install, terminate, test, and troubleshoot fiber optic and copper cabling.
• Install and configure structured cabling systems.
• Install and service wireless communications equipment, access points, and network hardware.
• Install, troubleshoot, and maintain security cameras, access control, and other low-voltage systems.
• Read and interpret blueprints, schematics, and technical drawings.
• Perform cable testing, certification, and documentation.
• Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment.
• Work independently and as part of a team to complete projects on schedule.
• Travel to customer job sites as needed.

Qualifications

• Previous experience as a Communications Technician, Low Voltage Technician, or similar role preferred.
• Experience with fiber optic termination, splicing, and testing is a plus.
• Knowledge of structured cabling standards and installation practices.
• Familiarity with networking equipment and basic IP networking.
• Ability to troubleshoot communication and network systems.
• Comfortable working indoors, outdoors, and at varying heights.
• Valid driver's license with a clean driving record.
• Strong work ethic, attention to detail, and commitment to safety.
• Preferred Experience: Mining or industrial facility experience, Fiber optic fusion splicing, Wireless point-to-point and point-to-multipoint systems, CCTV, access control, and VoIP systems, OSHA 10/30, MSHA, or other safety certifications.
