This is an hourly, part-time position up to 19 hours per week.
About the Role
The Communications Specialist (Social Media) will support the college's Office of College Relations & Marketing to create and distribute engaging content in various formats across multiple social media channels. This role enhances the college's image and brand while engaging multicultural audiences to drive digital follower expansion.
Responsibilities
- Work with the Office of College Relations & Marketing to support the district’s social media presence.
- Attend campus activities and events to capture live social media content and optimize promotional opportunities for the college.
- Engage and build ACC’s presence among the ACC and community-at-large by driving brand awareness and growing ACC’s reach to its multicultural audiences.
- Assist in supporting the ACC District social media content calendar for all major platforms, curating content to each channel following best practice guidelines.
- Support live events and conversations on social media platforms to facilitate engaging, two-way conversations.
- Assist in creating original and engaging social media content that aligns with ACC’s mission and values.
- Track emerging trends, communities, and platforms and recommend engagement opportunities relevant to the department and college.
- Support office activities and events in ways that increase ACC awareness and user engagement (e.g., tabling, account takeovers, giveaway campaigns, contests).
- Maintain confidentiality of work-related information and materials.
- Represent the college with professionalism and diplomacy.
Requirements
- Knowledge of major social media platforms, including but not limited to X (Twitter), Facebook, Instagram, Reddit, and LinkedIn.
- Familiarity and working knowledge of social media efficiency tools.
- Demonstrated proficiency in using current social media platforms, scheduling tools, graphic design applications, standard word processing, databases, and virtual platforms (such as Google Meet and Zoom).
- Strong interpersonal, teamwork, and communication skills, including tact and diplomacy.
- Effective organizational and planning skills.
- Strong verbal and writing/grammatical skills, with a keen eye for detail.
- Effective customer orientation when working with a multicultural population.
- Ability to use a variety of spreadsheet, word processing, database, and presentation software.
- Experience working with simple graphic design programs (primarily Canva).
- Reliable transportation (driving between ACC campus locations will be required).
Physical Requirements
- Work is routinely performed in a standard campus, office, or similar environment.
- Subject to standing, walking, sitting, bending, reaching, kneeling, pushing, and pulling.
- Occasional lifting of objects up to 25 pounds.
Pay
$23.00 per hour.
Schedule
Up to 19 hours per week. Work schedule is adaptive and cooperative.
