About the role

The Communications Specialist (Awards) creates persuasive and engaging submissions for various editorial awards. This role involves close collaboration with lawyers and Communications, Marketing, and Business Development colleagues to develop narratives that highlight firm achievements and innovations. A passion for storytelling and an understanding of the media-based awards process are essential.

This position can sit in any of our US offices and offers a hybrid work schedule.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct thorough research of targeted awards, including criteria and previous winners.
  • Collaborate with stakeholders to gather information for submissions.
  • Write compelling narratives showcasing the value and impact of work, aligned with award criteria.
  • Edit and refine submissions for clarity, coherence, and persuasiveness.
  • Develop and manage timelines to meet submission deadlines.
  • Organize and maintain a database of potential awards, submission requirements, and deadlines.
  • Build relationships with industry contacts to gather insights for successful submissions.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Public Relations, Marketing, Communications, Journalism, or a related field.
  • 5+ years of experience in Marketing, Public Relations, or a similar field.

Skills

  • Strong writing and editing skills with a passion for storytelling.
  • Ability to convey complex ideas clearly and engagingly.
  • Excellent organizational and project management skills.
  • Strong understanding of the awards submission process.

  • Effectively communicate, verbally and in writing, with clients, lawyers, and business professionals.
  • Produce deliverables, answer calls, and respond to correspondence efficiently.
  • Provide timely, accurate, and high-quality work product.

  • Engage in physical and sedentary activities, including extended computer use, virtual meetings, and in-person collaboration.

Physical Demands

Sedentary work: Exerting up to 10 pounds of force occasionally and/or negligible force frequently. Involves sitting most of the time, with occasional walking or standing.

Pay

The expected hiring range for this position is $34.09 - $53.17 per hour, depending on geographic market location, candidate experience, skills, and qualifications. Non-exempt positions are paid hourly with overtime in accordance with applicable laws.
