About the role

New Jersey Resources (NJR) is seeking a Communications Specialist to join a dynamic team focused on shaping a cleaner energy future. This role plays a crucial part in internal and external communications, supporting business goals and strengthening the NJR brand.

Responsibilities

  • Drafts, edits, and delivers high-quality content for various communications channels including press releases, newsletters, websites, employee intranet, social media, customer and employee print and digital communications, videos, marketing and advertising, presentations, and other communications materials.
  • Collaborates with the team on monthly utility customer newsletter and bill inserts, utilizing customer communication best practices, targeted messaging, and audience segmentation strategies to enhance engagement and deliver timely, accurate, and compliant communications.
  • Serves as the communications lead for outreach and educational events, creating strategic messaging, communications materials, and supporting collateral for NJR’s corporate brand and narrative.
  • Supports website content management by developing and maintaining the company website, serving as the content owner, reviewing, editing, and advising on content submitted by business units.
  • Provides strategic communications support for Human Resources and Employee Business Resource Groups, developing engaging communications and content that align with special projects, energy-efficiency, and sustainability initiatives, and other strategic business priorities.
  • Develops communications for NJNG outreach and educational events, including messaging, collateral, and promotional materials, providing event day support and serving as the Corporate Communications lead for special events.
  • Manages social media operations to ensure content consistency and appropriate cross-channel content delivery.
  • Provides basic photography support at company events, including occasional evenings and weekends, as needed.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Communications or related field.
  • Minimum of 3 years of related corporate communications experience.
  • Strong writing, editing, and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to manage and prioritize multiple projects and competing deadlines.
  • Highly detail-oriented, able to gather information quickly to develop company communications materials while responding to internal and external requests.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office programs, including Word, PowerPoint, and Excel.
  • Experience with Canva, Adobe Creative Suite, and photography is a plus.

Other Details

Compensation: Expected base pay range for this role will be $77,000 - $104,000. Base pay is based on several factors including experience, skills, and knowledge. This role is eligible to participate in an annual short-term incentive program.
