About the role

We are seeking a talented Communications Specialist to support content development across the organization. This role will report to the Communications Manager and work closely with the marketing team, business unit leaders, and technical staff to create clear, accurate, and audience-focused content. The Communications Specialist will contribute to a wide range of materials, including newsletters, email campaigns, project descriptions, articles, award submissions, website copy, and other editorial content.

Responsibilities

  • Interview technical staff and key contributors to gather information and translate it into clear, compelling stories.
  • Collaborate with marketing, business development, and technical teams to ensure content accuracy and quality.
  • Write, edit, and proofread content while following brand standards for tone, clarity, and consistency.
  • Assist with press releases, project highlights, articles, and other marketing initiatives.
  • Gather and write content for brochures, handouts, and business unit marketing materials.
  • Create and update website content in coordination with the marketing team.
  • Assemble content for digital campaigns, newsletters, and other digital communications.
  • Stay current with industry trends and best practices through professional development opportunities.
  • Communicate clearly and professionally in both written and verbal formats.
  • Listen carefully and ask thoughtful questions to understand technical concepts.
  • Build positive working relationships with marketing teammates and technical staff across the organization.
  • Some travel may be required.

Requirements

  • 3–5 years of experience in a communications or writing-focused role, preferably with technical or professional services content.
  • Strong writing, editing, and proofreading skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines at once.
  • Experience contributing to content marketing or editorial initiatives.
  • Familiarity with pitching or developing editorial-style content is a plus.
  • Comfortable learning technical concepts and translating them for non-technical audiences.
  • Experience working in engineering, science, or related fields is preferred but not required.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office and Adobe Creative Suite.
  • Detail-oriented, organized, and dependable.
  • Collaborative team player who is responsive and open to feedback.
  • Professional, approachable personality with the ability to work effectively with technical experts.
  • Creative writing style that aligns with brand and style guidelines.
