About the role

The Communications Specialist assists in building and maintaining mutually beneficial relationships between Intermountain Health and its key internal and external stakeholders through the consistent use of best-practice communication tools. The incumbent helps research, plan, produce, coordinate, and effectively communicate key messages, initiatives, policies, programs, and other activities of Intermountain Health to various audiences.

Responsibilities

  • Plans, researches, writes, edits, proofreads, produces, and distributes various communications (e.g., print, digital) for both internal and external audiences.
  • Achieves desired results on time and under budget.
  • Evaluates and measures communications, keeps pace with technology, uses creativity, and maintains technical accuracy to ensure quality and effectiveness of deliverables and messages.
  • Works with key stakeholders and team leaders to execute strategic planning activities for the department and for individual projects.
  • Serves as an important contributor to assigned team or sub-function and utilizes competencies in multiple areas (e.g., building trust, communicating, contributing to team success, decision making, managing work).
  • Partners with internal stakeholders and external vendors, when appropriate, to support areas of responsibility and priority projects.

Requirements

  • Demonstrated experience in communications, media relations, journalism, public relations or related field.
  • Exceptional written and verbal communication skills.
  • Strong organizational and project management skills.
  • Proven ability to work effectively under pressure and meet tight deadlines.
  • Familiarity with communication metrics and analytics tools.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in marketing, communications, public relations, English, business or a related college major involving communications skills and critical thinking. Degree must be obtained through an accredited institution.
  • Two (2) years of experience in communications, media relations, journalism, public relations or related field.
  • Experience in Healthcare communications.

Physical Requirements

  • Ongoing need to see and read information, documents, monitors, identify equipment and supplies, and assess customer needs.
  • Frequent interactions with providers, colleagues, customers, patients/clients, and visitors requiring verbal communication as well as hearing and understanding spoken information, needs, and issues quickly and accurately.
  • Manual dexterity of hands and fingers to manipulate complex and delicate equipment with precision and accuracy, including frequent computer use for typing and accessing needed information.

Scheduled Weekly Hours: 40

Pay

Hourly range: $31.01 - $48.84 (dependent upon experience)
