About the role
The Communications Specialist performs marketing and communications-related duties on a professional level in specialized functional areas.
Responsibilities
- Curate content for network-wide internal and external communications, including media relations and turnkey content distribution to all media outlets.
- Develop all written content and copy for FHCN communication platforms aligned with the Network’s communications objectives and goals.
- Distribute public service announcements for FHCN-produced community health fairs and events.
- Populate FHCN-produced community health events on all media public event calendars.
- Develop strategic packaged turnkey stories (soundbites, talking points, videography, still photography, quotes) and deliver to prospective media outlets to gain earned media.
- Track and report all earned media content.
- Develop, execute, and oversee all written communications, including press releases, press kits, specialized pitch letters, presentations, talking points, and digital stories.
- Research and curate content for FHCN’s website blog, collaborating with the Digital Marketing & Analytics Specialist and LocaliQ SEO team to ensure SEO keyword inclusion.
- Create creative copy for social media posts, infographics, print collateral, and other materials.
- Coordinate T.V. appearances, interviews, and develop talking points.
- Develop radio advertising scripts and commercial videography storyboards/scripts.
- Handle New Provider Orientation communications related to Marketing and Public Relations.
- Manage a comprehensive list of media outlets and contacts to build relationships with media personnel.
- Implement FHCN’s brand voice across all curated content.
- Produce photography and Facebook live content to support network brand initiatives, newsletters, and social media.
- Maintain accuracy of FHCN health center hours, services, and special programs across all platforms (public-facing and internal).
- Ensure accurate business listings for each health center and administrative site.
- Conduct continuous audits and updates of all FHCN collateral and digital content for accuracy.
- Curate content, coordinate updates, and manage health center monitors to promote marketing strategies and employee engagement.
- Combine newsletter copy with design elements to produce internal and external newsletters.
- Manage online reviews from patients and employees, including reputation management on platforms like Indeed and Glassdoor.
- Review, track, and report negative reviews through the ARMs reporting system.
- Respond to online reviews, social media comments, and messages to gather patient feedback and elevate engagement.
- Engage with all social media comments to enhance authenticity and interaction.
- Adhere to the Attendance and Absenteeism Policy; regular attendance is an essential function of the role.
- Ability to present to and work at any FHCN location as needed.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Requirements
Effective June 1, 2026, all individuals hired into the role must meet one of the following:
- Bachelor’s degree with recognized significant or comparable experience, demonstrating advanced written and verbal communication skills, computational, computer, and technical skills, and mathematical knowledge.
- High school diploma (minimum cumulative GPA of 2.5) or General Educational Development (GED) with a minimum overall score of 162.5, plus healthcare-related knowledge acquired through a trade school, para-professional, or certificate-type program.
- If an individual has completed a higher-level degree with a stronger GPA, they may provide proof of GPA from that degree in lieu of the required diploma.
- Three years of strong copywriting and content creation experience, preferably in the healthcare industry.
- Ability to work under pressure, meet tight deadlines, and adapt to last-minute changes in objectives or priorities.
- Advanced proficiency in Adobe Creative Suite (InDesign, Illustrator, Photoshop), CANVA, and OptiSign.
- Valid CA driver’s license.
Skills
- Ability to prepare complex documents in Microsoft Word (tables, charts, graphs).
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel for data compilation (formulas, functions, lookup tables).
- Advanced presentation creation in Microsoft PowerPoint.
- Experience with multimedia, including art, design, photography, and video production, with applied use in marketing.
- Strong written communication skills for compiling and analyzing information, including correspondence, reports, and articles.
- Ability to convey technical information to non-technical audiences.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced, deadline-driven team environment.
Physical Demands
- Regularly required to sit and use repetitive hand movements for typing and grasping.
- Frequently required to stand or walk.
- Occasionally required to lift and/or move up to 20 pounds.
- May require travel across multiple sites.
Pay
Hourly rate: $25.77 – $35.56
