Communications Publications Design Specialist
About the Role
The Division of Student Development and Enrollment Management (SDEM) provides quality services and programs to all students from the time they first apply to Hostos to the point of graduation. Our goals are to support students' academic achievement for career development; enhance students' intellectual, aesthetic, and social growth; facilitate critical thinking skills; and promote civic responsibility.
Responsibilities
The successful candidate will report to the Director of Assessment and Communications in the Office of the Vice President. In addition to the responsibilities set forth in the CUNY Title Overview, duties include, but are not limited to the following:
- Design and produce integrated marketing and communications materials across print, digital, web, email, video, and social media platforms to support student engagement, enrollment, retention, and college initiatives.
- Assess Student Development and Enrollment Management (SDEM) communications, marketing, and branding needs and assist in developing strategies to enhance outreach, visibility, and engagement.
- Create, edit, and manage content for SDEM communication channels, including social media, email communications, digital displays, publications, and promotional campaigns.
- Develop student testimonials, success stories, profiles, and other marketing and communications content that promote SDEM programs, services, and initiatives.
- Manage SDEM social media content and editorial calendar; monitor engagement and recommend opportunities to increase audience reach and impact.
- Serve as a backup for website updates and maintenance using the college's content management system and basic HTML.
- Coordinate the development of creative assets and production schedules with internal and external partners to ensure consistency with College branding, messaging, accessibility, and communications standards.
- Collaborate with the college's marketing and communications office, vendors, the college print shop, Information Technology, and other departments to support SDEM communication and marketing initiatives.
- Participate in planning content, graphic elements, and formats appropriate to departmental requirements as well as College branding and ADA-compliant standards.
- Manage SDEM archives of marketing and communications materials and oversee marketing related equipment inventories and maintenance.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
- Essential duties require on-campus presence/in-person work.
Qualifications
Bachelor's Degree and four years' related experience required.
Preferred qualifications:
- Demonstrated experience in communications, marketing, graphic design, digital media, public relations, social media management, website content management, or a related field.
- Proficiency in Adobe Creative Suite, including InDesign, Photoshop, and Illustrator.
- Experience developing and producing marketing and communications materials for print, digital, web, email, and social media platforms.
- Experience with photography, videography, and video editing.
- Strong writing, editing, and storytelling skills.
- Experience creating student testimonials and promotional content.
- Experience managing marketing and media campaigns.
- Working knowledge of website content management systems and basic HTML.
- Ability to manage multiple projects, deadlines, and production schedules in a collaborative environment.
- Availability to work evening and weekend hours.
Pay and Benefits
$63,995 - $77,097; Salary commensurate with education and experience.
