About the role

The Betsy Lehman Center is a dynamic state agency dedicated to enhancing health care, safety, and quality in Massachusetts. Our programming, research, policy, and communications work engage other state health care agencies, providers, and consumers in various initiatives. The Center, named after a Boston Globe health columnist who passed away in 1994 due to a preventable medical error, collaborates with the state’s Center for Health Information and Analysis (CHIA).

Responsibilities

  • Coordinate meetings with internal and external stakeholders, including scheduling meetings, preparing correspondence, disseminating meeting agendas, taking notes, writing minutes or summaries, assembling responses, and following up on actions.
  • Draft, edit, and format communications materials for review and approval by Center staff, such as newsletters, flyers, reports, social media content, educational materials, and website copy.
  • Create engaging videos and infographics for the newsletter, website, and social media.
  • Support Center staff in producing virtual events and webinars on Zoom.
  • Support the communications team in developing marketing and communications plans, including strategies for disseminating reports and raising awareness of Center programs.
  • Perform additional coordination or communications duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • A self-starter with a desire to contribute to a small team with an important mission.
  • An ability to communicate professionally with internal and external stakeholders.
  • An understanding of and interest in public health.
  • Knowledge of patient safety or government work experience is a plus.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office 365, including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Teams, and SharePoint.
  • Experience with Adobe Creative Suite, including Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign, or Premiere, is a plus.

Qualifications

Qualified candidates should have the skills necessary to thrive in a fast-paced environment and be able to communicate effectively with both internal and external stakeholders. A bachelor's degree in communications, public relations, journalism, or a related field is preferred.

Skills

  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Excellent organizational and project management skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks and projects simultaneously.
  • Experience with video production and graphic design tools.

Pay

The expected compensation range is $30.00 to $35.29 per hour.

Schedule

This is a 35-40-hour-per-week contract position, with an anticipated term through approximately June 30, 2027.
