The Role

Family Law CASA is seeking a professional with experience in volunteer recruitment. The Volunteer Recruitment Coordinator (VRC) is responsible for recruiting volunteer Court-Appointed Special Advocates (CASAs) for Family Law CASA to advance our mission. The VRC will also support the program by helping with retention efforts.

We are looking for a motivated self-starter with excellent attention to detail, who can work effectively in a fast-paced environment and wants to support us in fulfilling our mission. This is a part-time (20 hours per week) position which reports to the Program Manager.

Major Responsibilities

  • Volunteer Recruitment
    • Develop and lead recruitment strategy in partnership with the Program Manager to recruit 40-50 new volunteer CASAs per year.
    • Research and pursue marketing opportunities for recruitment purposes.
    • Update, publicize and manage all recruitment postings through newsletters, websites, publications, and social media.
    • Collaborate with Communications Manager to develop and execute digital and print marketing strategies.
    • Conduct community outreach presentations, including volunteer fairs, office speaking events, local meetings, farmers markets, etc.
    • Manage the full volunteer recruitment process including:
      • Host regular informational sessions for interested parties and answering questions from potential applicants.
      • Schedule interviews between Advocate Supervisors and potential volunteer CASAs.
      • Maintain regular communication with volunteer applicants until training.
      • Manage pending applicants and perform outreach to potential volunteers who applied but did not attend a training.
  • Volunteer Retention
    • Send thank you cards and training certificates to volunteer CASAs for attending initial training.
    • Contribute to email newsletters including mini-training invitations, webinars and conferences, and appreciation events.
    • Coordinate with Communications Team on social media posts.
    • Assist in the production of special events for Advocates and other regular volunteer appreciation.
    • Survey, interview and correspond with Advocates to maintain positive relationships and answer any queries.
  • Team Support & Collaboration
    • Attend weekly check-ins with Program Manager.
    • Attend weekly staff meetings.
    • Participate in monthly Program Team meetings.
    • Periodically attend mini training courses, as needed.
    • Support other Family Law CASA events and fundraisers.

Qualifications

  • Minimum 1-2 years of professional experience managing and/or recruiting volunteers, preferably in the King County area.
  • Strong interpersonal communication skills.
  • Ability to approach relations with volunteers, family and staff with empathy, kindness and professionalism.
  • Ability to prioritize tasks and organize responsibilities to effectively address multiple, simultaneous projects and manage deadlines.
  • Good work habits, problem-solving ability, attention to detail, administrative and organizational skills.
  • Cultural awareness and sensitivity in working with diverse communities, especially an understanding of the intersectionality of systemic oppression.
  • Demonstrated intermediate to advanced computer skills (Microsoft Office experience required).
  • Commitment to Family Law CASA’s vision, mission and values.

Education

An undergraduate degree, or any combination of education and experience, will qualify a candidate for this position. Education acquired outside of the United States is welcome.

Language Proficiency

Ability to read, write and speak English with primary fluency is required.

Accessibility

Our office is accessible via elevator with wide hallways to reach our suite. Individual workspace is available with space for a variety of mobility aids. Tour of physical office space can be included in the interview process by request.

Location

Our offices are in Tukwila, WA near Southcenter Mall. It is about a 10-minute walk from the bus lines on Andover Park W, or about a 15-minute walk to the Tukwila Sounder train stop. Both walks include dedicated pathways, sidewalks, and traffic lights are street crossings.

The Role

The Communications Manager is a full-time position responsible for the execution of communications strategy for Family Law CASA. The role will support fundraising and programmatic goals, including strengthening donor communications and recruiting new volunteers through digital marketing strategy. Reporting to the Development & Communications Director, this position is a strong fit for someone who values growth, has a strong attention to detail, and connects with Family Law CASA’s vision and mission.

Major Responsibilities

  • Content Development & Storytelling
    • Create and produce content across channels (ex: video, email, flyers, etc.) which deepens engagement, inspires generosity, and advances mission.
    • Adapt messaging for a range of audiences, applying strategic judgment and sensitivity in how content is framed and communicated.
    • Manage and maintain digital platforms, including blog, newsletter and social media, while monitoring performance, reporting on metrics, and tracking relevant news and publications.
    • Develop and produce communications materials to support the annual Together for Tomorrow Luncheon, including promotional content, event messaging, and post-event follow-up.
    • Manage multiple projects simultaneously, meeting deadlines with strong attention to quality, accuracy, and editorial consistency.
  • Brand & Messaging Stewardship
    • Bring consistency to brand voice, messaging framework, and style guidelines.
    • Proofreads, edits and provides meaningful feedback on content drafted by colleagues.
    • Apply Community-Centric Fundraising principles.
    • Apply digital and print accessibility standards to create clear and inclusive content across formats and audiences.
  • Team Support & Collaboration
    • Build strong, proactive working relationships with colleagues across development, program, and leadership teams to stay aligned on priorities, campaigns, and messaging needs.
    • Collaborate with the Development & Communications Director to plan, prioritize, and execute communications projects.
    • Participate in team and organization-wide meetings, contributing insights and updates to support shared goals.
    • Support cross-functional initiatives by translating programmatic and fundraising priorities into clear, audience-centered communications.

Qualifications

  • Minimum 2–3 years of experience in marketing or communications.
  • 1 year of nonprofit experience is a bonus.
  • Demonstrated strength in writing and storytelling for external audiences; ability to create clear, compelling content that resonates with different audience segments.
  • Experience adapting messaging for a range of audiences, including donors, volunteers, and broader community members.
  • Familiarity with tracking and interpreting basic performance metrics for digital communications (email, web, or social).
  • Proficiency in software to perform content execution: video editing software (Adobe Premiere Pro), email marketing (Constant Contact), content management system (WordPress), and graphic design (Canva).
  • Basic graphic design and video production skills required.
  • Hightly organized with strong attention to detail and accuracy; able to prioritize tasks appropriately and follow through with minimal supervision while managing multiple projects and deadlines.
  • Demonstrated problem-solving and decision-making skills, including knowing when to take initiative and when to seek input from teammates or supervisors.
  • Ability to work collaboratively across teams, including fundraising, program, and leadership staff.
  • Self-aware, reflective, and able to build relationships with empathy and kindness.
  • Cultural humility and awareness when working with diverse communities; understanding of systemic intersectionality, especially as it impacts families of color facing economic injustice.
  • Passion for equity-driven nonprofit work and a willingness to grow in knowledge and skills.

Compensation & Benefits

  • The starting salary range for this role is $69,000 – $75,000.
