Communications Intern
Position Overview
Tampa Bay Sun FC is seeking a communications intern to support the club’s Media Operations and Communications efforts across match days, club events, and day-to-day club operations. This role plays a critical part in executing professional, organized, and efficient media operations.
Key Responsibilities
Media Operations: Assist with media RSVPs for home matches, training sessions, and club events; Coordinate and assist with approval of media credentials; Distribute, track, and collect media bibs.
Match Day Responsibilities: Support the Communications Coordinator, who serves as the main point of contact for credentialed media, by communicating updates regarding media arrivals, requests, and matchday needs; Distribute and track media credentials on match days; Assist with the setup of on-site media accommodations and operational logistics; Capture and organize post-match press conference video assets; Assist with compiling photo assets and broadcast highlights of key moments for use in postgame press release media drives; Assist with gathering quotes and contextual information for use in press releases.
Non-Match Day Responsibilities: Assist with media confirmations, match notes, and communications to approved media members; Assist with preparation of match notes ahead of each match using established templates; Assist with research, writing, and drafting of website articles and standard non-event-related press releases, including: Player arrivals and departures; Player spotlights; Matchday theme and promotional announcements; Communications & Club Storytelling Support: Assist the Communications Coordinator in supporting media during scheduled media availabilities at team training sessions and club events; Serve as an additional on-site communications support resource to support club storytelling and media accuracy; Flag real-time updates to the Communications team to ensure timely, accurate, and consistent messaging.
Qualifications
Currently pursuing or recently completed a degree in Public Relations, Communications, Journalism, Sports Management, or related field preferred
Strong interest in sports communications, media relations, and professional soccer
Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail
Strong written and verbal communication skills
Ability to work evenings, weekends, and match days
Professional demeanor when interacting with media, players, league officials, and club staff
Ability to perform effectively in a fast-paced, live-event environment
