Communications and Volunteer Engagement Intern

Responsibilities

  • Aid in the preparation of public/volunteer educational and training materials.
  • Collaborate with volunteer presenters to inform community groups and others about available presentations.
  • Employ strategic, analytical, and creative thinking to support AARP North Dakota’s social media accounts, including video production.
  • Record and share video and engaging stories from events for future promotion and storytelling about AARP’s work in North Dakota.
  • Contribute to writing draft stories for the state webpage, news releases, newsletter stories, social media posts, and emails to members and volunteers.
  • Assist in delivering events in the community as needed.

Qualifications

  • Currently enrolled in a degree program at an accredited college/university, rising undergraduate juniors or seniors, graduate students, or post-doctoral students.
  • Self-starter and adaptable, capable of working under tight deadlines.
  • Proven ability to manage multiple projects, prioritize tasks, and make sound decisions.
  • Excellent technical skills in Microsoft Office programs.
  • Familiarity with creating and editing videos and knowledge of multiple social media platforms is a plus.

  • Independent judgement in evaluating options to make sound decisions.
  • Ability to work effectively in an open office environment with the ability to work effectively surrounded by moderate noise.
  • Occasional lifting up to 25 pounds.

Compensation and Benefits

  • The hourly range is $18 for undergraduates, $21 for graduate students, and $28 for Ph.D. candidates.
  • Internships are non-exempt positions and are not eligible for employee benefits.
