Sanctuary Centers of Santa Barbara is seeking a part-time to full-time (20-40 hours per week) highly knowledgeable Grant Writer with extensive experience in the Santa Barbara community working with local foundations.
Responsibilities
- Research grant-making organizations and analyze them to identify likely funding sources for specific projects and programs.
- Prepare letters of intent, grant proposals, public funding applications, and grant reports.
- Develop and maintain effective, long-term working relationships with grantors through stewardship activities to facilitate the grants process.
- Compile, write, and edit all grant applications exhibiting strong expository writing skills and a high-level command of grammar and spelling.
- Review the budget of a project or program for which funding is sought and make recommendations on how to better present it to grant-making organizations.
- Develop individual grant proposals in accordance with each grant-making organization’s preferences and follow their guidelines exactly.
- Maintain contact with grant-making organizations during their review of a submitted grant application to supply additional supportive material as needed.
- Manage the process of supplying progress reports when required by a grant-making organization that has funded a project or program.
- Administer and complete all required post-award reporting, compliance, and evaluation.
Requirements
- BA/BS degree required.
- At least five years of documented successful grant writing experience in Santa Barbara.
- Proficient at directing and managing competitive grant applications.
- Strong computer skills, including five years of Microsoft Office experience.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
- Ability to work well under pressure, manage several projects concurrently, and meet deadlines.
- Ability to work independently with strong attention to detail and accuracy.
- Must be located in or willing to move to Santa Barbara.
- Must be able to pass a DOJ background check.
Pay
$45,000–$97,000 annually, commensurate with experience.
