About the Role

Poly Prep seeks a COMMUNICATIONS SPECIALIST to join our Engagement & Communications team. As our embedded storyteller, you’ll be part reporter, editor, photographer, and content strategist, responsible for capturing and sharing the stories of school life while maintaining Poly Prep’s voice and brand across all platforms.

Responsibilities

  • Write 2-3 web-friendly feature stories weekly for polyprep.org, covering profiles, events, academics, and co-curricular activities.
  • Contribute to the school’s biannual magazine, supporting editorial production and coordinating contributors.
  • Capture and edit compelling photography and short-form video content at events, classes, and activities across both campuses.
  • Manage Poly Prep’s social media channels, creating and publishing timely, engaging content.
  • Assemble the weekly all-school newsletter and supervise divisional bulletins.
  • Collaborate with the event manager to ensure accurate event communications and calendar updates.
  • Coordinate promotional assets for Arts productions, Commencement, and other key events.
  • Mentor student writers and foster an inclusive editorial culture.
  • Champion Poly Prep’s brand standards across all content.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in journalism, communications, marketing, or related field, or equivalent experience.
  • Professional background in journalism, school communications, or content marketing.
  • Exceptional writing and editing skills with a strong portfolio.
  • Proficiency in photography and photo/video editing tools (e.g., Canva, Adobe Creative Suite, Final Cut Pro).
  • Experience managing social media platforms and developing content strategies.
  • Strong organizational and project management skills.
  • Familiarity with brand guidelines and editorial standards.

Schedule

This is a 12-month, in-person position based primarily at the Dyker Heights campus with regular visits to the Park Slope campus. Occasional evening and weekend availability is required. Remote work flexibility may be available during the summer (mid-June through mid-August).

Pay

$75,000 - $85,000
