About the role
The Communication Resources Clerk reports directly to the Communication Resources Manager. Duties include answering and extending calls to various departments, initiating responses to hospital codes and alarms, performing overhead pages, initiating On-Call Scheduling calls, providing Exchange services, and supporting Audiovisual/Conference Center, Translation devices, and Vocera.
Responsibilities
- Answering and extending calls to various departments, including departments of the Enterprise, patients, and physicians.
- Initiating responses to all hospital codes and alarms.
- Performing overhead pages.
- Initiating On-Call Scheduling calls, providing documentation on all calls, for EA program.
- Providing Exchange services for 5 PIH Physician offices.
- Supporting Audiovisual/Conference Center, Translation devices, and Vocera.
Requirements
- Knowledge, skills, and abilities: Critical thinking and problem-solving skills, effective communication, organizational skills, strong interpersonal skills, time management, efficient task handling, pleasant voice, Microsoft Office proficiency, Spanish/Chinese bilingual preferred.
- Talking or hearing: Essential to communicate with patients and staff.
- Education: High School diploma or equivalent, with successful completion of high school education or GED.
- Experience: 6 months required, 1 year of computerized console experience and general office skills, previous hospital/healthcare experience, experience on a switchboard or in an administrative environment preferred.
Qualifications
- Licenses and Certifications: Must obtain LA City Fire Card within 6 months of employment (PHGSH Only).
