Communication Media Specialist
About the Role
The Missouri Department of Mental Health is dedicated to the prevention, treatment, and public understanding of mental illness and developmental disabilities. As a member of the Division of Developmental Disabilities Communications Team, you will contribute to division initiatives and a national movement by creating, leading, and supporting strategic communication efforts.
Responsibilities
- Plan, coordinate, and create highly engaging content for distribution across all relevant platforms.
- Collect, prepare, interpret, and communicate informational material to support and/or promote division programs, initiatives, and services to internal and external audiences.
- Develop clear, appealing messages with a distinct voice that represents the division and the services available to Missourians and/or internal stakeholders.
- Compose and edit text, graphics, video, photographic illustrations, and podcasts for distribution to the general public and internal staff.
- Develop and produce visually appealing and on-brand content for social media platforms, including videos, images, and graphics.
- Manage all video production, including shooting, editing, scripting, storyboarding, filming, sound recording, and post-production editing to ensure high-quality and engaging results aligned with the brand’s style, tone, and voice.
- Manage and maintain all media materials and content.
- Use analytics to monitor key communications channels, identify risks and opportunities, analyze and report on content performance, and refine strategies for maximum impact.
Requirements
- Two (2) years of relevant experience or a Bachelor’s degree in communications, public relations, graphic design, or a related field of study and a minimum of one (1) year of relevant experience.
- Demonstrated proficiency in Adobe Creative Cloud design applications, including InDesign, Photoshop, Illustrator, Premiere Pro, and Captivate.
- Experience using Microsoft Office Suite applications and working with content experts.
- Strong video production and editing skills.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills, along with strong editing and proofreading abilities.
- Creative self-starter, able to work independently to organize, prioritize, and manage tasks.
