Communication Liaison, Emergency Department, Full Time, Day

About the Role

Serves as a point of contact for referring physicians to provide assistance with accessing services offered within VHS. Acts as a liaison between physicians, specialists, programs, and patients of the Emergency Department. Works in conjunction with other healthcare professionals to evaluate and address patient needs, ensuring timely access to services and optimizing health and wellness.

Responsibilities

• Work cooperatively and communicate effectively with patients, family members, healthcare professionals, and external organizations from diverse backgrounds.
• Employ active listening and remain solutions-oriented in interactions with patients, families, and the healthcare team.
• Demonstrate empathy, integrity, honesty, and compassion in difficult conversations.
• Apply insight into emotions and human responses to maintain positive interpersonal interactions.
• Navigate the healthcare system to obtain necessary information while understanding the roles of licensed and non-licensed professionals.
• Use general office equipment, including multi-line telephone systems, with professional phone etiquette.

Requirements

• High school diploma or equivalent; associate's degree preferred. In lieu of a degree, a minimum of 1 year of employment at VHS is required.
• Self-motivated, detail-oriented, and able to work quickly while making accurate decisions.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills, including grammar and spelling.
• Highly adaptable with strong interpersonal skills.

Pay

Pay range: $20.86 – $26.07 per hour.
