Communication Dispatcher (Promotional)

Requirements

MOS CODE: None

Education and Experience: High School Diploma or GED, or higher and one (1) year of experience involving public contact.

Licenses and Certificates: Positions assigned to Sun Metro's Streetcar or Fixed Route Divisions will require obtaining a Texas Class "B" Commercial Driver's License with a passenger endorsement or an equivalent from another state within sixty (60) days of appointment. Additionally, positions assigned to the Sun Metro Streetcar Division will require obtaining a rail certification within sixty (60) days of appointment.

Special Requirements: Positions of a safety-sensitive nature are subject to drug and alcohol testing in accordance with federal regulations.

Responsibilities

• Provide customer service, answer telephones, respond to inquiries, and take messages.
• Explain rules, regulations, policies, and procedures to the public.
• Schedule transportation and personnel to meet the service needs of the assigned area.
• Assist in the preparation of mass transit vehicles prior to pull-out daily.
• Dispatch calls and information to field personnel and coordinate work crew activities.
• Maintain filing system, records, and telephone logs, and prepare reports.

Qualifications

• Knowledge of city streets, intersections, and geographical layouts.
• Experience using two-way radios, switchboards, and beepers.
• Proficiency with personal computers, word processing software, spreadsheet applications, and other office equipment.
