Communication Access Manager
About the role
The North Carolina Department of Health and Human Services (DHHS) is seeking a leader in the Deaf, Hard of Hearing, and DeafBlind community with a proven track record of eliminating communication barriers for individuals. This role involves developing, implementing, and coordinating services, resources, and policies related to effective provision of communication access services for Deaf, Hard of Hearing, and DeafBlind individuals. You will be a member of DSDHH’s Executive Management Team and oversee the Medicaid Communication Access team.
Responsibilities
- Evaluate in-house and out-of-house sign language interpreters
- Develop and implement policies and resources related to communication access
- Oversee the Medicaid Communication Access team
- Educate and develop public awareness around communication access services
- Coordinate service delivery for Deaf, Hard of Hearing, and DeafBlind individuals
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree from an appropriately accredited institution
- Three (3) years of program experience related to the area of assignment, including one year of supervisory program experience
- Advanced ASL proficiency required

- Demonstrated skills in leadership, management, and supervision, including supervision of supervisors

Pay
The salary range for this position is $70,478 - $123,336, with a recruitment range of $70,478 - $82,000.
Schedule
The position is eligible for a hybrid-teleworking schedule to include weekly onsite work hours.
