Commodity Manager III
SUMMARY OF FUNCTIONS
The Commodity Manager III is in charge of developing, implementing, and maintaining the commodity inventory strategy that supports production needs for both Morgan Hill and Fairfield.
The Commodity Manager III will partner, train and develop other commodity managers by ensuring that market conditions of inventory levels are guaranteed, monitor costs and recommend suppliers. Additionally, this person would manage ongoing relationships with suppliers, department heads and the purchasing team by communicating effectively and resolving escalated issues.
Major Duties and Requirements
- Oversee, manage and make recommendations for raw material for both Morgan Hill and Fairfield sites
- Understand future needs for planning for both sites to ensure that MRP functions smoothly and raw material are delivered on time without excess inventory
- Evaluate on-hand inventory and recommend raw materials in order to maximize inventory turns to execute the production schedule without material shortage impacts
- Accountable for production material purchase orders, gathering quotes and bids
- Responsible for ensuring that past due POs are rescheduled, understood and confirmed on a weekly basis
- Build and manage strong supplier relationships to ensure on time delivery, expedite past due orders, manage priorities at suppliers and improve supplier performance
- Review contracts to ensure supplier compliance with specifications
- Provide monthly forecasts to suppliers on current and projected demand
- Plan WO issuance for subcontract/outside processing material production runs
- Confirm that pricing in AX is correct per any Long-Term Agreements and revised price lists from suppliers
- Work alongside Supply Chain Management by reviewing and negotiating Long-Term Agreements
- Manage obsolete from aged and lowering material
- Review and ensure that budget pricing is in AX as needed
- Manages forecast in AX
- Support buyers and commodity managers by providing training and development within the department
- Work with cross functional departments (not limited to Production, Receiving, Accounts Payable) to resolve discrepancies and meet business needs
Experience and/or Education Requirements
- Minimum associate degree and/or equivalent experience
- Bachelor’s degree preferred
- 10+ years’ experience as a Commodity Manager or Senior Buyer/Planner ideally with composites or manufacturing
- 1-3 years of experience in training and/or management experience
- Mandatory manufacturing or composites experience
- Able to communicate clearly (written and verbally) in English
- Able to work and communicate with multiply teams
- Able to effectively lead cross functional teams/projects
- Proficient in MS Office applications (Word, Excel, PPT)
- Experience with ERP/supply demand planning software
Physical Requirements
- No special requirements of the job other than being to perform normal computer related tasks
- Must be able to spend extending periods of time walking around the plant as part of normal job functions
- No significant lifting requirements
- Perform all duties in compliance with regulatory and company requirements
PAY AND BENEFITS
Salary range: $120,000 - $150,000
