About the role

A Purchasing Commodity Manager oversees the purchasing, budgeting, and management of specific goods or materials for a company, focusing on developing strategies, negotiating contracts, and ensuring supply continuity while optimizing costs and quality.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and implement sourcing strategies for specific commodities, considering market trends, supplier capabilities, and company needs.
  • Establish and maintain strong relationships with suppliers, ensuring quality, cost-effectiveness, and timely delivery.
  • Negotiate contracts, terms, and conditions with suppliers, ensuring favorable pricing and performance standards.
  • Identify and implement cost-saving opportunities, such as negotiating better prices, optimizing supply chains, and improving processes.
  • Identify and mitigate potential risks related to procurement, such as supply disruptions, price fluctuations, and quality issues.
  • Collaborate with other departments, such as engineering, operations, project management and finance, to align procurement strategies with company objectives.
  • Monitor market trends, analyze supplier performance, and identify potential sourcing opportunities.
  • Ensure timely and accurate execution of purchase orders, managing inventory levels, and resolving any issues that may arise.
  • Utilize data and analytics to track performance, identify trends, and make informed decisions.
  • Ensure compliance with company policies, procedures, and relevant regulations.

Qualifications

Preferred qualifications include a Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain Management, Business Administration, or 10 years of experience in the Architectural Millwork Industry, and a minimum of 5 years of experience in procurement or supply chain management, with a focus on commodity management.
