About the role
A Snapshot of Your Day
- Serve as the primary procurement interface for your assigned project equipment scope, acting as an integrated member of the project team and building strong, trust-based relationships with key suppliers as well as engineering, project management, quality, and other internal partners.
- Develop and execute sourcing strategies for complex electrical and mechanical equipment essential to FACTS and HVDC systems, including transformers, reactors, valves, control systems, switchgear, and high-voltage components - ensuring reliability, performance, and grid stability.
- Lead commercial evaluations and negotiations, partnering closely with technical experts to align specifications, manage risks, and secure competitive, high-quality solutions that meet demanding project requirements.
- Drive cost and efficiency improvements by bringing forward ideas, market insights, and a continuous-improvement mindset to strengthen how we manage our equipment supply base.
- Collaborate across functions - Procurement, Engineering, Project Management, Erection & Commissioning, Quality, and Logistics - to ensure seamless execution from specification through delivery, FAT, installation, and commissioning.
- Utilize digital procurement tools to manage supplier data, run RFPs, issue purchase orders, track documentation, and support invoice processing with accuracy, transparency, and compliance.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Procurement, Business, Engineering, Supply Chain, or equivalent education, and 5+ years of progressive procurement experience in a project environment.
- Experience in negotiation and exposure to project-based or technical procurement environments, ideally involving complex electrical or mechanical equipment.
- The ability to thrive in a global, matrixed organization, working effectively with diverse teams, cultures, and stakeholders.
- A team-oriented, customer-focused mindset with strong organizational and time-management skills.
- A positive, solution-driven mindset – you stay curious and adaptable in complex, high-voltage project settings, while clearly conveying detailed technical and commercial information to diverse audiences.
- Willing to travel to 20% domestically and internationally to suppliers, factories, and project sites.
Qualifications
Applicants must be legally authorized for employment in the United States without need for current or future employer-sponsored work authorization. Siemens Energy employees with current visa sponsorship may be eligible for internal transfers.
