Commodity Buyer
About the role
The Commodity Buyer - Indirect Categories is responsible for the strategic sourcing, supplier management, contract negotiation, and procurement execution of indirect goods and services that support Integra's business operations. This role develops and executes category strategies across areas such as MRO, facilities, logistics, transportation, fleet, IT hardware/software, professional services, temporary labor, office services, and other indirect spend categories.
The Commodity Buyer works cross-functionally with Operations, Finance, IT, HR, Legal, Facilities, Engineering, and Supply Chain leadership to align sourcing strategies with business requirements, improve cost performance, mitigate supplier risk, and ensure reliable support of day-to-day business operations.
Responsibilities
- Execute sourcing activities for assigned indirect spend categories.
- Obtain and analyze supplier quotations, proposals, and bids.
- Negotiate pricing, contracts, and commercial terms.
- Issue and manage purchase orders in accordance with company policies.
- Support category strategy development and execution.
- Identify cost savings and value improvement opportunities.
- Manage supplier relationships and performance expectations.
- Lead RFQ/RFP processes and supplier evaluations.
- Monitor supplier delivery, quality, and service performance.
- Resolve supplier, contract, and invoice-related issues.
- Collaborate with internal stakeholders to support business needs.
- Analyze spend data, market trends, and sourcing opportunities.
- Mitigate supply, financial, and operational risks within assigned categories.
- Maintain procurement records, contracts, and supplier data.
- Track procurement KPIs, savings, and supplier performance metrics.
- Ensure compliance with procurement policies and ethical sourcing standards.
- Support process improvement and operational efficiency initiatives.
- Leverage AI-enabled insights and analytics to support sourcing decisions.
Qualifications
- Experience supporting project-based procurement and materials management organizations.
- 3–5+ years of procurement, sourcing, or purchasing experience.
- Bachelor’s degree in supply chain management, Business, Engineering, or related field.
- Familiarity with mechanical, electrical, structural, and indirect spend categories.
- Experience managing suppliers supporting engineered-to-order, configure-to-order, or highly customized products.
- Knowledge of inventory management, material planning, and demand-driven procurement processes.
- Experience utilizing spend analytics, market intelligence, and AI-enabled procurement tools.
- Professional certification such as CPSM, CSCP, CPM, or equivalent.
- Advanced proficiency in Excel, data analysis, and procurement reporting tools.
- Knowledge of contract management, commercial negotiations, and supplier risk mitigation strategies.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with Deltek Costpoint ERP or similar ERP/MRP systems is a plus.
