About the role
JH Engineering, LLC (JHE) is a leading engineering and consulting firm specializing in the commissioning and startup (C&SU) of water and wastewater treatment plants, pump stations, and unit process systems nationwide. We take a proactive approach during the design phase to mitigate challenges and ensure seamless commissioning during construction.
Responsibilities
- Develop, conduct, implement, manage, and witness commissioning and startup testing procedures for water and wastewater infrastructure in municipal contracts.
- Review drawings and specifications for constructability, operability, functionality, and compliance, and identify value engineering opportunities.
- Represent and advocate for clients, including Owners, Design Engineers, and Contractors, at design and construction meetings.
- Manage training schedules and onsite coordination of C&SU activities.
- Develop comprehensive C&SU plans, schedules, and testing procedures.
- Analyze construction submittals and test procedures.
- Work collaboratively with design engineers, operators, and construction teams in both field and office settings.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical, Electrical, Civil, Chemical, or Environmental Engineering.
- 5+ years of hands-on experience in commissioning water and wastewater infrastructure.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, and Teams.
- Demonstrated experience developing and implementing commissioning and startup procedures.
- Proven time management skills with the ability to handle multiple tasks and deadlines effectively.
- Willingness to travel within the lower continental U.S., with a typical travel duration of 2 weeks.
- Must currently reside in the Austin or Las Vegas metropolitan areas or be willing to relocate.
Preferred Qualifications
- Licensed Professional Engineer (or ability to obtain reciprocity).
- Proficiency in Microsoft Visio, Project, or Primavera P6.
- Strong understanding of P&IDs, schematics, and system applications.
- Experience with diagnostic/testing equipment.
- Supervisory-level water/wastewater operator license (TX or NV a plus).
- Previous experience in Texas and/or Nevada.
Skills
- Working knowledge of mechanical, HVAC, process mechanical, electrical, process controls, and functionality of process systems in water and wastewater facilities.
- Ability to work independently while contributing effectively to a collaborative team environment.
- Initiative as a self-starter with a hands-on approach to completing tasks and resolving challenges.
- Enthusiasm for supporting water and wastewater projects of all sizes.
