About the role

Henderson Building Solutions is seeking a Commissioning Project Manager to join their team in Lenexa. This position oversees and coordinates all aspects of projects, manages proposals and contracts, directs project commissioning and schedules, and ensures project success.

Responsibilities

  • Oversees and coordinates all aspects of projects
  • Follows company project management standards, expectations, and quality metrics
  • Manages proposals and contracts
  • Directs project commissioning and schedules
  • Covers commissioning deliverables and project related documents
  • Maintains client service and communication
  • Accountable for overall project/program performance
  • Contributes to efforts to improve performance and ensure consistent adherence to applicable quality standards
  • Leads and directs others in the commissioning process, including owner’s representatives, general contractors, and design team members
  • Serves as a third-party commissioning representative responsible for project success for the client/end user
  • Interfaces with design teams to assist in meeting the established projects goals
  • Executes building commissioning and retro-commissioning tasks on projects
  • Mentors, coaches, and supervises Commissioning Agents, Technicians, and project/program team members
  • Makes recommendations to Practice, Operations, and Technical leadership to align training, development, and mentoring of staff
  • Recognizes and resolves project conflicts, balancing the interests of internal and external stakeholders
  • Serves as a brand ambassador and primary project/program contact
  • Maintains regular communication with clients to ensure satisfaction with the project process and engineering work product
  • Pairs with Sector and Practice leadership to support business development strategies within their practice or sector
  • Solves project-related conflicts and responds to client requests and questions
  • Directs guidance of business development efforts in relation to Building Solutions across sectors
  • Maintains project quality expectations
  • Ensures project deliverables meet project objectives and quality expectations
  • Develops scope of work and fees to mitigate risk throughout the project life cycle
  • Provides technical insight on project production when applicable

Qualifications

  • Degree in Architectural, Electrical, Mechanical, Industrial or Construction Engineering/Management preferred
  • Years of relevant experience will be considered in lieu of requisite education
  • 8 years of experience in MEPF Engineering, Commissioning or TAB required; 12 years required without degree
  • Industry specific certifications recommended (ASHRAE, ACG and/or NEBB)
  • Basic proficiency in project management standards and execution required
  • Fundamental understanding of building design and construction principles for successful commissioning project execution required
  • Must demonstrate proficiency in all core competencies as described and characterized in the job description

Physical & Work Environment Requirements

  • Prolonged periods of sitting or standing at a desk and working on a computer
  • Ability to read, write and communicate in English
  • Ability to climb up and down an 8-foot ladder
  • Ability to carry up to 25-lbs
  • Travel required up to 25% of time
