About the Role

The Commissioning Engineer III reports to the USO Commissioning Manager and focuses on the integrated design, commissioning, and operation of plant systems, structures, and integrated analysis of the facility, with an emphasis on Commissioning plan and product development. This role requires a high-potential individual who will concentrate on nuclear island commissioning and plant operations related to the Natrium Demonstration Plant, including scheduling, planning, and testing product development. The successful candidate will coordinate with engineers and project management professionals on systems, components, engineering analysis, test planning, and scheduling in areas such as plant design, plant commissioning, and execution schedule development.

Responsibilities

• Coordinate geographically diverse design and commissioning team members to develop supporting design and testing documentation. The team includes TerraPower employees, subcontracted resources, partner employees, and customers.
• Develop and implement commissioning administrative programs.
• Develop and coordinate the creation of an integrated nuclear plant commissioning schedule across multiple organizations.
• Provide subject matter expertise to the project team regarding regulations, company policies, and industry best practices related to nuclear plant commissioning.
• Support the development, maintenance, and refinement of plant-level and system-level requirements, specifications, and strategy documents related to commissioning, plant operations, and maintenance activities over the lifecycle of a nuclear facility.
• Apply engineering principles, methods, and tools to the design of nuclear and industrial facilities and their systems and operations.
• Develop and lead commissioning and design efforts to evaluate plant integrated control and transient event responses; provide recommendations/optimizations to deliver efficient plant operational strategies to influence design.
• Support teammates and contractors in plant development efforts through oversight and interface activities.
• Support continuous learning and application of nuclear industry best practices to maintain the highest quality of engineering design and proactively identify process change/enhancement opportunities.
• Support licensing activities associated with Safety Analysis.
• Provide leadership and oversight of nuclear island commissioning programs, processes, and procedures to ensure testing meets design criteria.

Qualifications and Skills

• B.S. degree in Nuclear, Mechanical, Electrical, or other relevant engineering discipline from an accredited university or equivalent experience.
• 7+ years of direct nuclear power plant experience commissioning safety-related (or equivalent) systems and components.
• 5+ years of direct experience in commercial nuclear reactor operating experience, including Senior Reactor Operator qualification or equivalent; Shift Technical Advisor qualification preferred.
• Experience in developing and/or using nuclear plant commissioning administrative processes and procedures.
• Experience in implementing integrated plant design of nuclear systems, including complex systems and structures (highly desired but not required).
• Experience developing and/or approving nuclear plant operations and maintenance procedures is preferred.
• Experience using P6 Primavera or a similar application to develop long-term schedules is preferred.
• Knowledge of implementing requirements for and licensing basis criteria for nuclear work control, maintenance strategies, and operational programs.
• Deep understanding of nuclear regulations, plant work control processes, operational design philosophies, and integrated plant operations during normal and off-normal events.
• Deep understanding of configuration management principles, as well as knowledge of design control tools application on nuclear or similar complex industrial applications.
• Knowledge of Risk Informed methodologies for integrated plant design or similar probabilistic methods in design (desired but not required).
• Excellent technical writing, communication, and presentation skills, including periodic training development and presentation.
• Attention to detail and aspiration for technical excellence.
• Ability to coordinate and support a design team's effort with minimal direction; self-starter with high potential.
• Ability to handle projects with many competing objectives and design constraints, resolving conflicts between objectives.
• Experience working to quality standards NQA-1 or ISO.
• High degree of trust and integrity, communicates openly, and fosters teamwork.

Pay

Salary: $142,996 - $190,661. We typically place offers in the lower to middle portion of the range to maintain internal equity and allow room for growth. Any salary offered within the posted salary band is based on market data and commensurate with the selected individual's qualifications and experience. This range is specific to Wyoming State.
