Commissioning Engineer, AMER-West ACx

About the role

The AWS Infrastructure Services team is responsible for the design, planning, delivery, and operation of all AWS global infrastructure. This includes managing the construction and commissioning of data centers, ensuring that all systems are operating efficiently and safely.

Responsibilities

• Support the construction and commissioning of various systems such as power systems, HVAC, chilled water systems, and BMS.
• Lead Factory Witness Testing (FWT) and manage third-party commissioning vendors in the performance of onsite pre-functional, functional, and integrated systems testing.
• Provide multi-discipline input into the scheduling, test script development, designing, and planning of projects.
• Review component submittal packages, lead FWT, perform system level and integrated system testing.
• Audit activities to ensure compliance with environmental, quality, and safety requirements.
• Communicate lessons learned and collaborate on program improvements.
• Coordinate site activities, prioritize tasks, and ensure each issue has a clear path to resolution.
• Manage the project commissioning vendor whose primary scope is to identify issues, determine criticality, propose solutions, and document findings.
• Escalate project turnover risks to appropriate stakeholders.
• Communicate lessons learned to help peers on similar projects in flight and participate in initiatives that drive improvement to the commissioning program.

Requirements

• Experience in Critical Infrastructure Commissioning.
• Ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
• Physical requirements: Walk job sites in uneven terrain, work at heights and from ladders, regularly walk, use hands and fingers, reach with hands and arms, stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl, lift and/or move up to 49 pounds, carry objects weighing up to 49 pounds for short distances, participate in group lifts for 50 pounds or more, carry out physical tasks throughout the day without becoming overly tired, manipulate small wires and objects easily, work in a noisy environment, work in environments that are colder or hotter than a normal office environment.
• Additional job requirements: Ability and willingness to travel domestically and internationally for up to 80% of the year, provide personal transportation for meetings and job visits away from the office, and be US citizen.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering, or 5+ years of relevant discipline work experience.
• High technical competency in either mechanical or electrical or control systems utilized in critical infrastructures, with the capability to learn and be trained in the others.
• Understand the design concept and intent by reviewing mechanical or electrical design documentation, including drawings, specifications, vendor submittals and sequences of operations and provide feedback on the same in accordance with Amazon standards for basis of design.
• Develop but majorly review commissioning documentation such as test plans, scripts and reports developed by vendors to ensure accuracy in accordance with the design requirements.

Skills

• Advanced knowledge Microsoft Office Suite - Word, Excel, Outlook.
• Advanced knowledge of SharePoint (or similar).
• Strong communication skills, detail oriented, highly organized, and able to work in high stress environments to maintain calm and respectful interaction with multiple teams.
• Ability to read and edit construction documents (design drawings, control diagrams, specifications, etc.).

Pay

The base salary range for this position is $116,800.00 - $160,000.00 USD annually.

Schedule

Work shifts longer than eight hours in duration with potential for night and weekends.
