About the role
The Commissioning Authority position supports commissioning activities for multiple high-profile, national and international projects across DLR Group’s core sectors including Workplace, Federal, Education, Hospitality, Healthcare, Justice & Civic, Mixed-Use and more. The successful candidate will review design and construction documents for compliance with Owner’s Project Requirements and Basis of Design, develop commissioning plans, specifications, pre-functional checklists, and functional performance tests, perform site inspections and functional testing to verify system installation and operations, collaborate with contractors, owners, occupants, and operators to identify improvements on building operations, identify, track, and resolve issues impacting system performance, and provide feedback to design teams to ensure optimal design strategies.
Responsibilities
- Review design and construction documents for compliance with Owner’s Project Requirements and Basis of Design
- Develop commissioning plans, specifications, pre-functional checklists, and functional performance tests
- Perform site inspections and functional testing to verify system installation and operations
- Collaborate with contractors, owners, occupants, and operators to identify improvements on building operations
- Identify, track, and resolve issues impacting system performance
- Provide feedback to design teams to ensure optimal design strategies
Requirements
- +7 years of hands-on experience in commissioning building systems
- Strong knowledge of the building design and construction industry, with familiarity in the commissioning process for new construction, major renovations, and existing buildings
- Familiarity with MEP and building automation systems, with the ability to evaluate and test system performance
- Excellent written and oral communication skills, along with strong organizational and computer skills
- Possess a sense of self-direction and the ability to manage your own time
- Must be able to climb structures and inspect equipment both at high altitudes and in confined spaces
Preferred Qualifications
- Commissioning certification from a recognized body (ACG, BCA, or ASHRAE)
- Licensed Professional Engineer or Trade Worker
- Bachelor’s degree in engineering or related field

Pay
The suggested pay range for this position is: Pay Range $84,700 - $144,430 USD
Schedule
We follow a four-day in-office work model, with employees having the flexibility to work somewhere other than the office on Fridays.
