About the role
As the Commissary Bakery Manager, you will lead the daily production of decadent low-sugar baked goods, build and coach a team passionate about health and wellness, and continuously improve operational efficiency.
Responsibilities
- Recruit, interview, hire, train, and develop bakery associates and leads.
- Supervise daily operations and evaluate team performance.
- Coach teammates on processes and effective communication.
- Empower the team to make consistent 1% improvements.
- Keep shifts properly staffed and production running uninterrupted.
- Create, implement, and optimize processes to produce quality donuts and cookies on deadline.
- Identify and remove bottlenecks, and address production issues immediately.
- Control costs by minimizing waste.
- Determine the resources (materials, personnel) each run requires.
- Protect food safety and sanitation.
- Establish, follow, and enforce sanitation standards and procedures.
- Maintain a safe, secure, and healthy environment in compliance with all regulations.
- Monitor inventory levels, expiration dates, and lot control.
- Order and receive supplies as needed to support production.
- Cookbook inbound deliveries and outbound wholesale pickups and staging.
- Communicate production status and issues to the VP of Operations and CoFounder.
Requirements
- Minimum 7 years of bakery production experience.
- Minimum 4 years of supervisory experience in food manufacturing.
- Experience working with bakery and wrapping equipment.
- Demonstrated leadership in a production environment.
- Strong understanding of GMP, bakery production timelines, quality standards, and food safety.
- Proficiency in spoken and written English and Spanish.
- Comfort with Microsoft Word, Google Docs, and email.
- Ability to work nights, weekends, holidays, and extended hours as required.
- Ability to lift 50 lbs.
