Commercial Underwriter
About the role
An underwriter applies quantitative and qualitative analysis along with sound underwriting principles to evaluate new and renewal account risks. The incumbent manages a book of business for growth, profitability, and retention. The underwriter initiates and handles agent relationships through service calls and occasional in-person visits. The person in this position provides a thorough, documented risk analysis on new and renewal accounts leading to a recommendation on coverage terms and premium.
Qualifications
- At least three years commercial underwriting experience in all business lines
- Working knowledge of NCCI and state bureau manuals, rules and classifications
- Experience with loss sensitive rating programs
- CPCU, ARM, CIC or similar certifications preferred
- Expert skills in Microsoft Office Suite, excel experience required
- Excellent communication and influencing skills, verbal and written
- Excellent critical thinking, problem solving, analytical skills
- Bachelor’s degree in finance, marketing, business, or equivalent experience preferred

The expected salary range for this position is $88,000.00 - $109,900.00. This salary range depends on experience, education, and location for this specific position.

This position is based in an office environment with adequate temperature and lighting control.
