Commercial Underwriter - ABL

We seek highly motivated and talented individuals to join our growing team as Commercial Underwriters for Asset-Based Lending (ABL).
Responsibilities
- Underwrite complex ABL transactions due to size, structure, borrower organization, or collateral, demonstrating a deep understanding of collateral types and attendant risks in monitoring and disposition.
- Perform detailed financial analysis to assess credit and collateral risk, including historical financials, projections, collateral performance, management assessment, industry drivers, and competition.
- Assign appropriate asset quality ratings (AQR) and ensure loan structures align with bank lending standards and policies.
- Meet quality standards as evaluated by Loan Review, OCC, and credit approvers, while maintaining productivity expectations for annual credit approval memorandum (CAM) volume.
- Produce high-quality, accurate analysis efficiently in a fast-paced, high-volume environment, juggling multiple requests while adhering to client-driven response timelines.
- Collaborate with Relationship Managers, Portfolio Managers, Treasury Management Partners, third-party due diligence providers, and Credit Officers to support new business efforts and foster a team-oriented environment.
- Provide credit expertise using a consultative approach, assisting in structuring loans and effectively communicating risks, questions, and options to Relationship Managers.
- Monitor the credit portfolio to maintain strong asset quality, including reviewing trend analysis reports, addressing defaults, delinquencies, maturing notes, financial information, covenant defaults, and Borrowing Base Certificate (BBC) reports.
- Deliver exceptional internal customer service, adopt new processes and tools, and continuously develop knowledge of assigned segmentation and portfolio.
Requirements
- Minimum of 5-7 years of progressive Asset-Based Finance experience within a commercial bank or finance company.
- Excellent analytical skills to independently analyze and interpret historical and projected financial statements with limited oversight.
- Ability to identify and mitigate risks associated with lending to diverse businesses, industries, and collateral types.
- Sound decision-making skills to comply with ONB lending policies, guidelines, and standards, and communicate decisions clearly and effectively.
- Ability to actively listen, identify issues and opportunities, and problem-solve in real-time.
- Comfort working in a collaborative team environment while also being an independent thinker.
- Proficiency in financial projection modeling and Excel.
- Bachelor’s degree in finance, accounting, or equivalent experience.
- Field Exam experience is a plus.

Pay
The salary range for this position is $83,300/yr. - $177,870/yr. Actual salary offers may vary based on responsibilities, skills, experience, education, and geographic location.
Schedule
This is an in-office role with locations in Chicago, IL (near Rosemont and the Cumberland Blue line station); St. Louis Park, MN; Indianapolis, IN; Nashville, TN (Gulch); and Grand Rapids, MI.
