Responsibilities

• Complete assigned route safely and efficiently.
• Perform pre-trip and post-trip inspections to ensure vehicle equipment is in good working order.
• Collaborate with other drivers and dispatchers to optimize schedules.
• Follow safety procedures for transporting hazardous materials.
• Read and interpret maps and written directions to plan routes.
• Operate various equipment including truck cab computers, CB radios, telephones, and GPS systems.
• Turn in all paperwork and related documentation upon completing shifts.
• Understand and comply with company SIPS, EMS, and BMS policies and procedures.
• Report all environmental issues immediately to supervisors.
• Review and understand the company’s emergency notification process.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required.
• One year minimum CDL driving experience.
• Valid Class A or B Commercial Driver's License with an acceptable driving record.
• Class A preferred.
• Meet DOT requirements (background check, drug screen, and physical).
• Able to work flexible schedules, including nights, weekends, and holidays.
• Able to lift 50 pounds.
• Able to perform tasks such as hooking up trailers, operating manual transmissions, climbing into engine areas, bending, stooping, crawling, and moving upper torso.
• Able to read and understand the Smithfield emergency notification process.
