Commercial Trials & Litigation Associate

About the role

Steptoe LLP seeks an associate with 2–4 years of commercial litigation experience to join the Firm's Commercial Trials & Litigation practice group in our Los Angeles office. The ideal candidate will have experience handling complex commercial disputes and be ready to assume significant responsibility in managing matters. This role offers meaningful opportunities to work directly with clients, opposing counsel, and the courts. Judicial clerkship experience is strongly preferred.

Responsibilities

• Handle complex commercial disputes
• Assume significant responsibility in managing matters
• Work directly with clients, opposing counsel, and the courts
• Participate in all aspects of litigation, including pre-trial motions, discovery, and trial preparation

Requirements

• Excellent academic credentials
• Superior writing and analytical skills
• Juris Doctor (JD) degree from an accredited law school
• Admission to the California Bar in active good standing

Qualifications

• Experience handling complex commercial disputes
• Strong judicial clerkship experience preferred

• Ability to manage multiple tasks and projects simultaneously

Benefits

We offer competitive compensation and excellent benefits in a collegial environment that emphasizes training and mentorship. The anticipated salary range is $235,000 to $310,000. The actual base salary offered will depend on the applicant’s experience and qualifications, as well as other job-related factors, including but not limited to relevant skills, education, certifications or other professional licenses held, and if applicable, geographic location.
