Commercial Trials & Litigation Associate
About the role
Steptoe LLP seeks an associate with 3–5 years of commercial litigation experience to join the Firm's Commercial Trials & Litigation practice group in our Houston office. The ideal candidate will have experience handling complex commercial disputes and be ready to assume significant responsibility in managing matters. Candidates should have substantive litigation experience, including experience taking and defending depositions, drafting dispositive motions, and court hearings. Federal judicial clerkship experience is strongly preferred.
Responsibilities
- Work directly with partners, clients, opposing counsel, and the courts
- Handle complex commercial disputes
- Manage matters with significant responsibility
- Take and defend depositions
- Draft dispositive motions
- Participate in court hearings
Requirements
- Substantive litigation experience
- Admission to the Texas Bar in active good standing
- A Juris Doctor (JD) degree from an accredited law school
- Excellent academic credentials and superior writing and analytical skills

Pay
The anticipated salary range is $260,000 to $365,000. The actual base salary offered will depend on the applicant’s experience and qualifications, as well as other job-related factors, including but not limited to relevant skills, education, certifications or other professional licenses held.
