Commercial Surety Head Underwriter - Bond Division
About the Role
Great American Insurance Group's Bond Division is seeking a Commercial Surety Head Underwriter. This position requires regular in-office presence and travel, with Cincinnati, OH as the preferred location. We will also consider candidates in Orange, CA; Schaumburg, IL; Philadelphia, PA; Hartford, CT; Atlanta, GA; and Dallas, TX. Relocation may be considered based on business needs and qualifications.
Responsibilities
- Oversee Financial Products Underwriting operations, enhancing workflow efficiency, and maintaining high productivity levels.
- Develop and implement strategic plans for the Production Underwriting team, ensuring alignment with business goals.
- Assess underwritten risk quality and volume, compiling comprehensive reports to convey key insights.
- Leverage strategic relationships with internal and external stakeholders to drive profitable growth.
- Guide the assessment of policy renewals and modifications, recommending strategic improvements and risk mitigation opportunities.
- Monitor management reports on service levels, activities, and customer experience, implementing strategic improvements as necessary.
- Oversee product and service promotions, ensuring alignment with market growth objectives and enhanced customer engagement.
- Implement, apply, and update underwriting rules, rating manual guidelines, and insurance regulations.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s or Master’s Degree in Finance, Economics, Business, or a related field, or equivalent experience.
- Minimum of 10-15 years of surety underwriting experience, including at least 5 years of leadership experience.
- Completion of or progress toward a professional designation preferred.
