Purchasing$179k–$249k/yrFull-time

Meta’s Global Technical Sourcing and Commodity Management organization builds and sustains the supply-chain infrastructure that powers Meta’s hardware portfolio—data-center compute, networking, storage, silicon, and consumer devices.

About the role

As a Principal Sourcing Manager, you will operate at the highest individual-contributor level, setting commodity strategy and supply-chain direction across critical technology categories that underpin Meta’s infrastructure and product roadmap. You will define sourcing frameworks, shape supplier ecosystems, and drive enterprise-level commercial outcomes in partnership with engineering, finance, legal, and operations. This role demands deep commodity expertise, executive-level supplier engagement, and the ability to navigate highly ambiguous, high-stakes sourcing environments with long-horizon impact.

Responsibilities

  • Define and own enterprise-wide commodity strategies for one or more critical technology categories, including supply-base architecture, dual-sourcing frameworks, and long-range capacity planning.
  • Lead complex, multi-year commercial negotiations with strategic suppliers, including master supply agreements, joint development agreements, intellectual property terms, and pricing structures.
  • Partner with hardware engineering and product teams to influence component selection, design-for-cost trade-offs, and technology roadmap alignment across new product introduction cycles.
  • Develop and maintain executive-level relationships with C-suite and senior leadership at key suppliers to align on roadmaps, capacity commitments, and strategic partnership models.
  • Conduct total cost of ownership modeling and should-cost analysis to identify cost-reduction opportunities and inform sourcing decisions across the commodity portfolio.
  • Identify and mitigate supply-chain risks through proactive supplier qualification, geographic diversification, and contingency planning for critical components.
  • Provide commodity market intelligence and competitive benchmarking to inform internal stakeholders on technology trends, supply-demand dynamics, and pricing outlook.
  • Establish sourcing governance frameworks, best practices, and decision-making standards that elevate the capability of the broader sourcing organization.
  • Drive cross-functional alignment on sourcing decisions by synthesizing technical, commercial, and operational inputs into clear recommendations for leadership.
  • Lead supplier performance management programs, including scorecards, business reviews, and corrective action plans to ensure quality, delivery, and cost commitments are met.

Requirements

  • 12+ years of experience in technical sourcing, commodity management, or supply-chain strategy within the semiconductor, data-center hardware, consumer electronics, or related technology industries.
  • Experience leading end-to-end commodity strategy development, including supplier selection, negotiation, contract execution, and ongoing supplier management for complex technology categories.
  • Experience structuring and negotiating large-scale commercial agreements, including master supply agreements, joint development models, and intellectual property licensing terms.
  • Experience conducting should-cost modeling, total cost of ownership analysis, and supply-demand forecasting to support sourcing decisions.
  • Experience engaging and influencing executive-level stakeholders at both supplier organizations and internal cross-functional partners including engineering, finance, and legal.

Preferred Qualifications

  • MBA or advanced degree in supply-chain management, electrical engineering, or a related technical or business field.
  • Experience adhering to and implementing responsible, ethical AI practices (e.g., risk assessment, bias mitigation, quality and accuracy reviews).
  • Experience building or scaling sourcing functions, including developing team processes, playbooks, or commodity-management frameworks adopted across an organization.
  • Experience sourcing advanced semiconductor components, custom silicon, or hardware systems in support of AI infrastructure or large-scale data-center deployments.
  • Demonstrated ongoing AI skill development (e.g., prompt/context engineering, agent orchestration) and staying current with emerging AI technologies.
  • Demonstrated ability to integrate AI tools to optimize/redesign workflows and drive measurable impact (e.g., efficiency gains, quality improvements).

Pay

$179,000/year to $249,000/year + bonus + equity + benefits. Individual compensation is determined by skills, qualifications, experience, and location.
