Commercial Roofer - Akron

About the role

We are currently seeking skilled, experienced roofers who are willing to work long hours and overtime, with the ability and willingness to travel and stay out of town for 3 to 4 weeks consecutively at a time.

Pay

Starting pay ranges from $20.00 to $30.00 per hour, based on roofing experience.

Responsibilities

• Follow all safety training and requirements
• Install commercial low slope and industrial roofing systems
• Read tape measures, layouts, and basic construction drawings
• Set up ladders, scaffolding, and fall protection equipment for safe roof access
• Operate roofing tools such as roofing knives, hammers, nail guns, rollers, torches, and other equipment
• Remove snow, debris, and water from roofs prior to installation of roofing materials
• Clean and maintain roofing tools, equipment, and work areas
• Assist foreman in identifying material needs and installation requirements when necessary
• Load and unload material and equipment from variant heights
• Lift heavy objects by hand or with a hoist and clean work area
• Shovel loose materials such as gravel, sand, metal, snow, or dirt

Requirements

• Working knowledge of roofing materials, installation procedures, and safety practices
• Current and valid driver’s license (for company driving positions)
• Must pass a background check and pre-employment drug screen
• High School diploma, equivalent, or complete GED within 6 months of employment
• Must be eligible to work in the United States
• Ability to communicate effectively through written correspondence and verbally in English

Physical Demands

• Must be able to lift 50-100 pounds at a time on a regular basis throughout the day
• Frequently ascend/descend ladder up to 40 feet
• Remain in a stationary position, bend over, or kneel for extended periods
• Constantly work in outdoor weather conditions
• Work in varied extreme weather conditions (extreme hot and cold)
• Load material and equipment from vehicles on and off the roof
