About the Role

Ahold Delhaize USA, a division of global food retailer Ahold Delhaize, supports leading omnichannel grocery brands including Food Lion, Giant Food, The GIANT Company, Hannaford, and Stop & Shop. This role is responsible for providing preventive maintenance, troubleshooting, and repairs on assigned stores' HVAC, ice machines, and refrigeration systems. The position involves completing work orders, entering data into the maintenance service tracking system (Service Channel), and responding to after-hours calls. The individual will also be accountable for managing Refrigeration/HVAC spend by minimizing equipment failures, refrigerant loss, and optimizing energy efficiency.

Responsibilities

  • Perform and/or oversee the day-to-day efficient operation, maintenance, and repair of assigned stores, including HVAC, electrical, lighting, energy management, and hardware.
  • Plan and generate work orders, obtain necessary tools and materials, and ensure timely completion in accordance with EPA regulations.
  • Inspect and evaluate all areas of assigned stores, offering suggestions for improvements and taking corrective action when needed (e.g., troubleshooting and repair of refrigeration systems, ice machines, air conditioning, heating, and related systems).
  • Act as a trusted advisor to recommend repairs and upgrades to store managers and maintenance supervisors.
  • Ensure adherence to safety guidelines, including safe work habits, proper use of safety equipment, and reporting unsafe conditions.
  • Coordinate and conduct preventive maintenance tasks.
  • Communicate effectively with stakeholders about building operations and conditions, promptly reporting any issues.
  • Update control set-points for refrigeration systems and EMS controls.
  • Handle electrical control wiring and troubleshooting of controls.
  • Analyze mechanical operation of refrigeration and HVAC units for proper function.
  • Assist supervisors in facilitating timely and cost-effective repairs of electrical and building components, including doors, frames, gaskets, latches, and closures on refrigerated cases.
  • Manage Refrigeration/HVAC spend for assigned stores, including equipment repairs, refrigerant leak rates, and economical maintenance methods.
  • Respond to work order requests and after-hours emergency calls, including nights and weekends.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned to meet business needs.

Requirements

  • High School diploma or equivalent.
  • Valid driver’s license.
  • EPA Certification (Universal).
  • State licensures, if required.
  • 3+ years of experience in a related field.
  • Ability to work independently with limited supervision.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively with others.
  • Excellent troubleshooting and multitasking abilities.
  • Ability to climb ladders for service above ceilings and roof access to equipment.
  • Ability to lift/carry 50 lbs. and lift/move 100 lbs. (with assistance).
  • Willingness to respond to after-hours/weekend emergency service calls.
  • Proficient computer skills.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to travel daily throughout the assigned region in a company-provided work vehicle.
