Commercial Refrigeration Technician (Field Service)
About the role
This is a traveling role in the Boston, MA area. The incumbent is responsible for technical maintenance services in critical client environments.
Responsibilities
- Provides support for servicing customers’ specialty equipment in shop.
- Affords assistance to other technicians and staff as needed.
- Works may include pick-up and delivery of equipment, field service, shop service/repairs, calibration, and preventative maintenance of refrigerated (and some non-refrigerated) scientific equipment including freezers, refrigerators, lyophilizers, vacuum pumps, and other types of equipment.
- Ensures compliance with all company policies, standards, and procedures.
- Affords assistance in reviewing and updating equipment, maintenance, and calibration procedures.
- Tracks and reports performance on quality, safety, cost, and customer satisfaction.
- Recommends corrective action to change and ensures contract requirements are executed above the specified standards.
- Confirms supply of spare parts and consumables are available.
- Uses existing procedures to solve straightforward problems while having a limited opportunity to exercise discretion.
- Delivers own output by following defined procedures and processes under close supervision and guidance.
- Might be required to work scheduled and unscheduled overtime and "on-call" as needed.
Requirements
- 5+ years’ experience in scientific or specialized refrigeration, sterilization or HVAC.
- Certification in HVAC or Refrigeration strongly preferred.
- Prior supervision experience in scientific or specialized refrigeration, sterilization or HVAC preferred.
- Experience with Microsoft Office Suite and internet functions is required; accounting and construction software packages preferred.
- Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.
- Ability to write routine reports and correspondence.
- Ability to speak effectively to customers, vendors and managers via phone and in person.
Qualifications
- Education: Bachelor’s degree in related field.
- Experience: 5+ years’ experience in scientific or specialized refrigeration, sterilization or HVAC.

The minimum salary for the Field Refrigeration Technician position is $90,000 annually and the maximum salary for the Field Refrigeration Technician is $115,000 position is annually. The compensation that is offered to a successful candidate will depend on the candidate’s skills, qualifications, and experience.
