Commercial Refrigeration Technician

Responsibilities

• Handles routine service, warranty work, and emergency repairs
• Ensures systems meet industry standards
• Provides the highest level of customer service
• Installs, maintains, and repairs most standard refrigeration units
• Diagnoses and repairs electronic, mechanical, and electrical components
• Works with assigned Dispatcher(s) to maintain schedule and communicate delays
• Maintains company vehicle and proper stock, tools, and safety equipment
• Documents services and parts provided electronically
• Diagnoses service issues, obtains replacement parts, and calibrates systems
• Communicates issue(s) and recommended solutions to clients
• Participates in training opportunities and follows safety policies
• Reports potential business opportunities to management
• Adheres to environmental regulations

Requirements

• Excellent verbal and written communication skills
• In-depth knowledge of refrigeration, electrical, and mechanical systems
• Proficient in reading schematics, work plans, and using diagnostic tools
• Advanced understanding of air conditioning, heating, and refrigeration principles
• Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail
• Advanced understanding of refrigeration, electrical, and mechanical systems
• Basic computer skills for communication and documentation
• Willingness to work overtime, weekends, and holidays
• Valid driver’s license and clean driving record

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent
• 2+ Years of recent HVAC/R Technician field experience

Schedule

Provides the highest level of customer service, technical ability, and quality to our customers

Installs, maintains, and repairs most standard refrigeration units for commercial customers such as reach-in coolers and freezers, beverage dispensers, walk-in coolers and freezers and rack units

Diagnoses and repairs electronic, mechanical, and electrical components of the commercial refrigeration systems

Works with assigned Dispatcher(s) to ensure schedule is maintained and delays are properly communicated to customers

Available to work nights and weekends on a rotating basis to address emergency service needs for customers

Maintains good working order of company vehicle, including cleaning and organizing, and washing vehicle a minimum of once per week

Maintains proper stock, parts, tools, and safety equipment upon arrival, including make, model, serial number, type of fuel, and pictures as necessary

Documents details of services and parts provided to customers electronically through company-provided cell phone and/or iPad applications

Diagnoses a variety of service issues, obtains necessary replacement parts, calibrates systems according to manufacturer specifications, and clearly communicates the issue(s) and recommended solutions to the client

Participates in company-provided training opportunities and adheres to all safety policies and procedures

Identifies and reports potential opportunities for additional business to management

Adheres to environmental regulations, including the handling and disposal of refrigerants, in accordance with EPA guidelines

Continuously requires vision, hearing, twisting, and/or talking

Able to alternate between standing, sitting, walking, lifting, carrying, reaching, kneeling, pushing/pulling, bending, and crouching

Able to operate an iPad, cell phone, computer and/or other office/work-related machinery

Able to stand for extended periods

Able to travel to assigned client sites

Able to lift up to 100 lbs

Continuously requires climbing

Occasionally able to work in office environment, as needed
