About the role
The successful candidate will manage the field crews and subcontractors performing slab masonry, block masonry, and structural framing across various commercial jobsites in Hillsborough County, FL and the surrounding areas. This is a fast-paced, relationship-driven position.
Responsibilities
- Manage Subcontractors & Crews: Direct concrete, masonry, and framing subcontractors and internal field crews across multiple commercial jobsites, holding each trade accountable for workmanship, productivity, and a clean, safe site.
- Own the Structural Shell: Oversee the full shell sequence on ground-up commercial builds such as car washes, storage facilities, and gas stations (foundations and slab-on-grade, CMU/block masonry, and structural framing), from layout through structural sign-off.
- Schedule & Sequence the Trades: Own the master schedule, manage milestones, and coordinate the hand-off between trades to keep every jobsite loaded with work and prevent costly downtime.
- Florida Code & Inspections: Ensure work meets Florida Building Code, and build strong relationships with county building inspectors to clear threshold and structural inspections without delay.
- Quality Assurance: Walk the work and supervise crews and subcontractors to enforce plumb, level, and square layout and workmanship that meets or exceeds project specifications.
- Client & Engineer Liaison: Serve as the primary point of contact for clients, superintendents, engineers, and vendors, resolving RFIs and change orders quickly to protect the schedule.
- Material & Resource Logistics: Manage material deliveries, inventory, and equipment scheduling so crews are never waiting on materials, pumps, or cranes.
- Administrative Reporting: Accurately communicate project status, completed work phases, change orders, and field updates to the main office.
Requirements
- Experience: 4 years of experience as a Field Superintendent or Project Manager, OR a 4-year degree in Construction Management, Civil Engineering, or Business.
- Commercial Expertise: Proven track record managing ground-up commercial construction projects such as car washes, storage facilities, gas stations, or similar builds.
- Technical Knowledge: Hands-on experience with concrete slab and foundation work, masonry, and structural framing.
- Project Leadership: Ability to effectively direct Field Superintendents and subcontractors while managing multiple project scopes simultaneously.
- Soft Skills: Strong problem-solving abilities, professional communication, and the capacity to navigate unforeseen jobsite challenges and diverse personalities.
