Commercial & Personal Lines Binding Production Underwriter

Responsibilities

• Build, maintain, and grow a book of business.
• Manage agency relationships and serve as the primary client contact.
• Develop and execute a marketing plan to increase new and renewal business.
• Rate, quote, and bind risks to determine acceptability, coverage, and pricing for both new and renewal business.
• Submit underwriting referrals to company brokerage facilities and management.
• Monitor key performance metrics and implement corrective actions to improve new business hit rates, renewal retention, premium growth, and loss ratios.
• Lead, train, and develop Assistant and Associate Underwriters or Brokers.

Qualifications/Requirements

• Education: Bachelor’s degree or equivalent combination of education and experience.
• Experience: Minimum of 3 years in commercial lines underwriting or brokerage, with excess & surplus experience preferred.
• Skills: Demonstrated proficiency in sales and marketing; strong organizational skills with attention to detail; proven ability to build and maintain client relationships.
• Certifications: Insurance license required (or willingness to obtain, with costs covered). CPCU, CIC, or comparable designations preferred.
• Additional Attributes: Interest in continued education and professional development.

Pay

Base Salary: $80,000 – $115,000 (potential to reach $125,000+ for candidates with a significant book of business and strong relationships)
