Commercial Mechanical Estimator

Engert is seeking an experienced commercial mechanical professional to join our growing preconstruction team in Knoxville, Tennessee.

About the Role

This full-time position is ideal for an experienced Mechanical Estimator, Project Engineer, HVAC Project Manager, Sheet Metal Superintendent, or Preconstruction professional who understands how commercial HVAC and sheet metal systems are designed, fabricated, and installed. The role focuses on shaping successful projects before construction begins, leveraging expertise from estimating, project management, field leadership, BIM/VDC, or mechanical construction.

Responsibilities

• Review project drawings, specifications, and contract documents for commercial HVAC and sheet metal projects.
• Prepare detailed labor, material, and equipment takeoffs.
• Develop accurate and competitive project estimates and budgets.
• Solicit, evaluate, and compare vendor and subcontractor quotations.
• Participate in design reviews, pre-bid meetings, site visits, and scope discussions.
• Identify value engineering opportunities and practical construction solutions.
• Work closely with the Estimating Manager, project management, operations, and fabrication teams to support design-build opportunities and position projects for successful execution.

Requirements

• Experience as a Mechanical Estimator, Project Engineer, HVAC Project Manager, Sheet Metal Superintendent, or in a Preconstruction role.
• Strong understanding of commercial HVAC and sheet metal systems.
• Ability to develop competitive estimates and budgets.
• Proficiency in reviewing project drawings and specifications.

Pay

$70,000–90,000 per year.
